Lawrence I. Shagrin
Larry has more than twenty years of private equity experience, including the sourcing, execution and management of growth-oriented investments in education, training, business services, healthcare, and other industries. In addition to his role at Millpond, Larry serves as a Partner at Brockway Moran & Partners, a middle-market private equity firm with over $1 billion under management. Before joining Brockway Moran in 2002, Larry was a Managing Director at William Blair Capital Partners and a Principal at William Blair & Co. He currently serves as a Director of Science First, Hands On Labs, Turning Technologies, and Woodstream Corporation. He previously served as a Director of Crisis Prevention Institute, Air Medical Group Holdings, U.S. Education Corporation, CLP Resources and other businesses. Larry began his career in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Smith Barney.
He earned a BS in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He lives in Boca Raton, Florida with his wife and three children, and serves on the Investment Committee at Saint Andrew’s School.
Jeffry S. Tobin
Jeff has nearly 30 years of experience as a private equity investor and operating executive in middle market businesses. Before joining Millpond, Jeff served as an Operating Partner at The Riverside Company for eight years. Jeff served as the Chairman of seven portfolio companies, from a variety of industries, including business services, education and training, healthcare, and others. Prior to joining Riverside, Jeff was the Chief Operating Officer and Board Member of Global Travel International, a travel services business with over 30,000 agents world-wide. Jeff also served as COO, CFO and Board Member of JTECH Communications, a Bain Capital Company, the leader in the on premise paging system business and CFO, VP Operations and VP Sales at Coiltronics, now a Cooper Industries division and leader in high-end electromagnetic components. Jeff also consulted at a wide range of software businesses and, earlier in his career, was a management consultant with Laventhol & Horwath, CPA.
He earned his BS in Economics and Business and his MBA from Vanderbilt University.
He lives in Boca Raton, Florida and is an active member in the Rotary Club
Nicholas L. Stommes
Nick has more than five years of transaction experience with middle market businesses. Before joining Millpond, Nick served as an Associate with Five Points Capital (previously BB&T Capital Partners), an SBIC located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina that provides private equity and subordinated debt capital to middle market businesses. While at Five Points, Nick evaluated and executed upon numerous transactions across the junior capital structure with firms in the education, business and media services, value-added distribution, and manufacturing sectors. Nick began his career as an Analyst at Harris Williams & Co., an investment banking firm focused on providing middle market sell-side M&A advisory. Nick also had an experience as a Summer Associate with New Capital Partners, a private equity firm headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama that invests in healthcare services, financial services, and business services sectors. Nick earned a BSB in Finance and Mathematics with a minor in Accounting from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where he completed the Carlson Honors Program and was a defensive back on the Golden Gopher varsity football team. He earned an MBA with a dual concentration in Corporate Finance and Energy from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma honors. Nick is a resident of Boca Raton, Florida.
